Four local primary schools i.e. Four Masters National School, Kinlough, Holy Family National School, Ballyshannon, St. Macartan's National School, Bundoran and Creevy National School took part in the annual North Leitrim/South Donegal Cup last Thursday the 2nd of June at the community field in Kinlough. This was the 8th staging of the competition with 160 boys and girls in fourth, fifth, and sixth classes taking part on finals day. There was an electric atmosphere and a great display of football skills.
In the end Holy Family National School were victorious over Bundoran in the Boys B final and Creevy National School were outstanding in defeating Four Masters National School in the Boys A final. In the Girls finals St. Macartans were triumphant over Holy Family in the B Final and Creevy National School defeated Four Masters National School, after a very close first half in the Girls A Final.
A huge congratulations must extend to all the young footballers from this area who played so well in competitive matches but who also made friends to bring into their secondary schools. Thanks also to referees Gareth Foley and Aidan Ferguson and to Fr. Keogan for presenting the perpetual cups.
