Big performance in county soccer finals

3rd Apr 2025

The Four Masters senior boys soccer team put in some solid performances in the county soccer finals in Manorhamilton.Huge team spirit was shown by the group with everyone playing their part in the games. We played Ballinamore in the first game, there wasn’t much to separate the teams and Kinlough created some lovely scoring opportunities. Ballinamore scored two brilliant goals, one was a volley from a corner and the other was a long range shot into the top corner that our keeper could do nothing about.

We played Leitrim in the second game and went ahead early when Jonathan slotted a ball through for Àinle who dribbled past a few players and smacked one of his trademark shots into the bottom corner. We had two or three really good chances that we didn’t put away after that and when Leitrim had their chance they took it. The game finished 1-1.

Our last game was against a strong St Clare’s side who had won their game against Leitrim and held Ballinamore to a draw . It was going to take something special to beat them and that came with a wonderful strike from Áinle early on in the game to put us one up. It was all shoulders to the wheel for a tight defensive display for the rest of the game. Killian and Jack ensured the defence was well organised and Rian D kept a clean sheet between the posts. Simon ,Fionn and Rian kept St Clare’s on their toes with some great counter attacking play and the game finished 1-0. Four Masters and Ballinamore celebrated and were presented with their medals. The boys were delighted, they were a pleasure to take away and were great ambassadors for their school. Conor and Ruben must also get a mention for the role they played in getting to the final.
